A State-First Timing Method

Your task is to derive one governing condition for a positioned line while preserving every secondary observation in its proper field. Do not generate dates on this page.

The governing rule is simple: condition first, timing comparison second. This is a UAYA course convention for keeping the worksheet reproducible; it is not presented as a universal lineage hierarchy.

Required input

Input	Why it is required
Subject	Timing in this act follows one selected line, not a whole frame or a detached transformed branch.
Position	Positions 1–6 connect the subject to the completed line record.
Branch and element	These identify the line and its calendar relationships.
Temporal assessment	Supplies void, broken, timely, weak, and Dark Moving fields.
Visible lines	Allow a binding or clashing relation to be identified without guessing.
Bian Yao, San He, and hidden-line records	Supply transformation, frame, and Fu Shen context when applicable.

If the selected position has no usable assessment, reconstruct it only from the complete declared chart record: branch and element, month, day, void pair, movement, and any same-position transformed line. If those inputs are incomplete, record insufficient and stop.

The relevance gate

For this course, a line is timing-relevant only when the earlier selection record identifies it as the Yong Shen or as an explicitly related line being followed for a stated reason. Do not promote a line merely because it creates a convenient date.

San He context	yes	The line must participate in the named frame; a visually complete frame elsewhere is irrelevant.
Hua Kong or Hua Po	yes	Record the same-position transformed branch and the cited rule, if any.
Moving or Dark Moving	yes	Movement is observable, but relevance still governs whether the line belongs in the final timing record.
Static	yes	Preserve the calendar assessment as a secondary field without turning strength into an outcome.

UAYA’s state-first order

Use the first applicable row below as the worksheet’s governing condition. Later conditions remain as secondary observations. This order prevents double counting; it is a UAYA teaching convention, not a claim about every WWG lineage.

Order	Primary state	Exact trigger boundary
1	Insufficient	The subject, position, calendar, or required relation is missing. Stop.
2	Void or broken	The selected line carries a recorded void or Month-Breaker condition. Preserve the exact branch and calendar basis.
3	Bound	A named branch combines with the selected line. Preserve that binder rather than substituting the subject branch.
4	Waiting or broken frame	The selected line participates in a San He frame with a missing or impaired member. Record context; do not invent timing without an attributed rule.
5	Transformation delay	The same-position transformed branch is recorded as Hua Kong or Hua Po. Keep it contextual unless a sourced rule supplies timing.
6	Clashed	The selected line has a named opposing branch. Preserve both sides of the relation.
7	Moving or Dark Moving	Movement is present and no earlier condition controls the worksheet.
8	Static	The relevant line is still, with its calendar assessment recorded as a secondary field.

Documented text: the same-day weather example

Documented textual case, mechanics use only. The checked record is a same-day clear/cloudy question in Zengshan Buyi. UAYA catalogues it publicly as Case 00035. It gives Hexagram 3 changing to 19, moving lines 2 and 5, Chen month, Ji-Mao day, and the selected Child/Yin line at bottom-up position 2 transforming to Mao.

Do not import the source’s recorded sky observation into the condition field. The outcome does not prove predictive validity, and this lesson does not issue a current forecast.

Two stop controls

1. Invented counterexample — frame as subject: a San He frame is named, but no selected line or position is supplied. Output: insufficient; no timing comparison.
2. Invented counterexample — missing assessment: line 4 is selected, but its branch or calendar record is incomplete. Output: insufficient; no timing comparison.

Both are successful results. Reclassifying them as “probably moving” would hide a missing input.
