Day Breaker vs Dark Moving

A day clash is observable. Under the checked Zengshan Buyi rule, a static line’s seasonal condition determines whether that clash is recorded as Day Breaker or Dark Moving.

The “Dark Moving” chapter of Zengshan Buyi makes a narrower distinction:
- a static line in a weak/resting seasonal condition that is clashed by the day is treated as Day Breaker;
- a static line in a prosperous/assisting condition that is clashed by the day is treated as Dark Moving.
First confirm that the line is static and day-clashed. Then evaluate the seasonal condition under the course’s cited seasonal table. Do not omit that decisive step.

Reproducible contrast
Example type: invented mechanics exercise; no question or outcome.
Start with a static You line on a Mao day and a Chou month.
- Mao clashes You.
- The line is static.
- Evaluate You’s seasonal condition in Chou month under the cited seasonal lesson.
- Apply the chapter 25 distinction: weak/resting gives Day Breaker; prosperous/assisting gives Dark Moving.
Now change the month to Mao. Mao month clashes You, so the separate Month Breaker condition must also be recorded. The same day clash still cannot be called Dark Moving until the seasonal condition and any relevant source qualification have been evaluated.

Trap and stopping condition
- Do not call every day clash Dark Moving.
- Do not classify a static day-clashed line before evaluating its seasonal condition.
- Do not use a dramatic example to replace the rule.
- Stop if the seasonal category cannot be reproduced from the cited lesson.
