Movement Has Cause
Last updated 5/21/2026
Before we write the verdict, we run one final discipline: every dynamic on the chart needs a cause and a consequence.
Moving lines are not decoration. Clashes are not decoration. Combinations are not decoration. Transformations are not decoration. If something changes, binds, attacks, releases, or appears from hiding, it should explain part of the reading.
Irrelevance must be proved, not assumed. A line can be background only after the relevance filter shows that it does not touch the target, support, obstacle, timing, or social path of the question.
Name the moving line, clash, combination, transformation, void, break, or hidden activation.
Trace the cause through the date, palace structure, Five Phase relation, line role, or transformation.
State the consequence for the target, obstacle, support chain, timing, or confidence.
What counts as a cause
The cause has to come from the chart. A story that feels plausible is not enough.
Generate, control, drain, bind, rescue, attack, reveal, or transform something relevant.
A clash is relational. Name both sides and the practical consequence.
A combination may connect two branches, but it can also lock a support path and stop help from arriving.
The changed line creates a new branch, element, and role. That new state has consequences.
Void, month break, and day break tell us where force is missing, delayed, or disabled.
Palace, six clash, six combine, and larger branch structures can change speed or context.
The useful test is strict: can you point to the chart mechanism that makes the dynamic matter? Date action, palace structure, line role, Five Phase relation, branch relation, hidden-line retrieval, movement, transformation, void, break, or release all count. A narrative guess that does not come from one of those mechanisms does not.
Case 1 as a complete mechanism
Case 1 is memorable because every important dynamic can be traced.
Because the father line is Earth, the moving Fire line should support it. Therefore the chart contains a rescue path.
Because the day branch clashes the hidden Wood line, the obstacle becomes active. Therefore the father line is under attack.
Because the moving support combines with its changed branch, it binds itself. Therefore the rescue cannot yet reach the target.
Because a later branch clashes the bound branch, the combination opens. Therefore support reaches the father line and recovery becomes possible.

That is a complete mechanism: attack, blocked rescue, release, recovery. The judgment is strong because the chart behaves like a working system. Every important motion has a reason.
Source basis: Zengshan Buyi movement-has-cause passages and the verified Case 1 commentary. The principle is methodological: no prediction without a traceable chart mechanism.
How this affects confidence
The chart's moving parts explain the verdict without loose ends.
The judgment may still be useful, but the unresolved movement should be named as a caveat.
The chart may not support a firm answer, or the reader may not yet understand the mechanism.
Traps
A line can be irrelevant, but irrelevance must be proven through the relevance filter. Do not ignore it by convenience.
The cause must come from chart mechanics, not from a narrative that happens to fit the question.
A judgment should explain why the chart reaches that answer. Outcome labels alone are not enough.
Where this lands
Act 7 gives us the verdict: target against obstacle, outcome rule, whole-chart support, confidence, and mechanism.
The next act asks when the mechanism opens, blocks, matures, or resolves.
