Moving, Changing, Transformed

A moving line creates a changed-side partner at the same position. Construction has three operations:
- copy every static line unchanged;
- flip every marked moving line, solid to broken or broken to solid;
- construct the changed hexagram’s own Najia labels, then pair only the moving rows with their changed-side rows.
The primary line, changed hexagram, and transformed line are related fields. Their interpretation belongs to later acts.
Worked construction: Case 00035
The verified inputs are:
- primary Hexagram 3, Water over Thunder;
- moving lines 2 and 5;
- changed Hexagram 19, Earth over Lake.
Build the geometry bottom-to-top:

Lines 2 and 5 flip. The other four lines copy. The resulting lower trigram is Dui / Lake and the upper trigram is Kun / Earth, giving Hexagram 19.
Pair the transformed rows
Construct Hexagram 19’s Najia table independently, then pair the two moving positions:

Under the explicit UAYA convention used throughout this course, the changed-side roles above continue to use the primary Kan palace element, Water. The table records identity only. Terms such as advancing transformation and later timing claims belong to Advanced Lines and Timing.
Zero and multiple moving lines
- Zero moving lines: the primary hexagram remains static. There is no changed hexagram and no transformed-row pair to interpret.
- One moving line: flip that line and create one transformed-row pair.
- Several moving lines: flip every marked line simultaneously. Do not apply the flips one at a time to a progressively changing chart.
Exercise and failure controls
Start with six solid lines and mark lines 2 and 5. Flip both at once, then compare with a version where only line 2 was flipped. The two outputs must differ. This catches the common failure of dropping one moving line.
Stop if any of these occurs:
- a static line changed;
- a moving line stayed the same;
- line order was read top-to-bottom;
- changed-side Najia labels were copied from the primary chart;
- an outcome was inserted before the chart was complete.
