Void means the line is present on the chart but not fully funded by the current ten-day cycle.

It is not just weak. It is temporarily absent from action.

Weak line Can receive help

Support from Month, Day, movement, or a frame can improve it.

Void line Waits for filling

Support does not fully land until the void condition resolves.

What void does

Presence The line is still there.

Do not delete it from the chart. It can still matter for timing and later activation.

Action It cannot deliver now.

A truly void target cannot carry a normal outcome until it is filled or released.

Support Help does not fully arrive.

Generators cannot simply push a truly void line into ordinary strength.

Timing The solution is calendar-based.

The line waits for the void to fill, clash, combine, or leave the current cycle.

There is an important source nuance: some lines that look void by the header are not treated as truly void in practice. If the line is already prosperous, moving, hidden but seasonally supported, or directly supported by the Day or an active moving line, the void label may not bite in the ordinary way. The header tells you where to look; the line’s actual condition tells you whether the void is decisive.

A clean reading rule

If the target line is void, say this first:

The target may be offline right now.

Then check whether the line has its own current: prosperity, movement, Day support, moving-line support, or another active reason to count it as available. If none of those apply, treat it as truly void.

After that, ask whether the question type changes the meaning. In acute illness, for example, a void patient line may signal that the illness is losing hold. In wealth or career, void usually means the desired thing is not yet available.

That domain nuance belongs later. The strength classification is still the same: void is null until filled.

This is why void sits at the top of the algorithm. Do not first decide that a line is strong, then subtract for void. Check whether void bites, then ask what kind of future trigger could make the line available.

Common traps

Trap 1 Treating void as very weak.

Very weak can be helped. True void needs resolution.

Trap 2 Ignoring the line completely.

Void lines can become decisive when the calendar fills them.

Trap 3 Ignoring exceptions.

Prosperous, moving, Day-supported, or actively generated lines may not be truly void.

Source basis: Zengshan Buyi, Void chapter. The source distinguishes true void from apparent void that is overridden by prosperity, movement, Day support, or active moving-line support; detailed timing remains in Act 8.

What this module establishes

Void is the first override in strength analysis.

Before asking how strong a line is, ask whether it is available at all.
