Branch Relationships

Branch relationships are exact pair lookups. This lesson marks four families—combination, clash, harm, and punishment—without turning a flag into an outcome.

Some pairs appear in more than one family. When a worksheet needs one summary label, this course uses the following precedence:
clash > harm > punishment > combination
For example, Yin–Si is listed in both a punishment cycle and the harm table, so the summary field records harm. Si–Shen is both a combination and a punishment-cycle pair, so the summary field records punishment. Preserve every underlying relation in study notes; the precedence affects only the single summary field.
Case 00035: mark, do not judge
The primary lines are Zi, Yin, Chen, Shen, Xu, Zi. The calendar header is Chen month and Ji-Mao day.

These flags can coexist in different calendar columns. This page does not decide which one governs, whether the moving status changes its weight, or what any flag means for the source question.
Exercise
Given branches Si and Shen:
- the study tables contain combination and punishment;
- the UAYA summary precedence records punishment;
- no outcome follows from that lookup alone.
Given branches Chen and Xu:
- the fixed relation is clash;
- when Chen is the month and a line carries Xu, the month lesson will mark that line Month-Broken;
- the strength effect belongs to the later Strength lessons, not this table.
Failure controls
- Do not replace branch-pair lookup with element relation; Chen and Xu are both Earth but still clash.
- Do not add San He groups to this four-family table; they are a different operation.
- Do not count one pair twice in the single summary field after precedence is applied.
- Do not use “combination” as a synonym for favorable or “clash” as a synonym for failure.
