Hexagram 38: Opposition

彖 · Tuan

Judgment

Good fortune in small matters.
Judgment Commentary · 彖傳
Opposition means that fire moves upward while marsh moves downward. Two women live together, yet their wills do not travel the same path. It is joyful and joined to brightness; the yielding advances and rises, finds the center, and answers the firm. Therefore small matters bring Good fortune. Heaven and Earth stand opposed, yet their works agree. Man and woman stand opposed, yet their wills communicate. The ten thousand things stand opposed, yet their kinds answer one another. Great indeed is the timely use of Opposition!
