Joy means delight. The firm is centered and the yielding is outward. Through delight it is Favorable to persevere. Therefore one accords with Heaven and responds to human beings. Using delight to lead the people, the people forget their labor. Using delight to face hardship, the people forget their death. Great indeed is the power of delight: it encourages the people.
